STOCK SALE REPORTS

AT WANGANUI YARDS. There was a good yarding of both sheep and cattle at yesterday’s Wanganui sale. The sheep pens mainlv comprised lambs. There was a fair demand for all classes of sheep, and the prices realised were on a par with recent sales’ rates. About 700 head of cattle were penned, the majority being cows and young heifers. Cattle were dull of sale, and the majority of the yarding was passed in under the hammer. The following prices were realised:— SHEEP. 537 wether lltmbs passed 21s 9d; 153 2-tooth ewes in lamb passed 26s 9d; 297 mixed lambs, 15s; 128 do., Ils 6d; 230 wether lambs passed 16s lOd; 100 4 and 6-tooth ewes in lamb, from Raetihi, passed 255; 262 wether lambs passed 19s; 95 wethers, 27s Id; 226 ewe lambs passed Ils 3d; 26 mixeu lambs, 16s 6d; 21 do., 15s 6d; 97 f.m. ewes in lamb passed 23s 9d; 40 lambs 20s 3d; 50 mixed lambs, 14s 2d; 22 small mixed lambs, 8s lid; 50 fat ewes, 24s 3d; 42 empty ewes passed 8s 9d. CATTLE. Fat cows (heavy) £6, lighter sorts £4 15s to £4 18s; fat and forward cows, £4 5s to £4 13s; forward cows, £2 17s 6d to £3 13s; store cows, 37s 6d to £2 7s: boners 20s tn 30s; 21-ye.ar empty P.A> heifers, £4 2s 6d; empty 20-months heiiers, 35s to 3/s 6d; pour-conditioned run cows, B.R. bull, 30s to 37s 6d; good 2 {-year steers, £4 2s to £4 8s; coloured do. £3 to £3 8s; 20-months steers £2 5s to £2 9s. Aged dairy cows in calf, £2 17s 6d to £4; thin yearling steers, 255; vcalers £1 5s to £1 15s. PIGS. About the usual number were yarded. Small porkers sold at 28s to 375, and heavier from £2 2s to £2 ss. Weaners, 10s and 10s 9d, and stores 15s. DALGETY AND CO., LTD. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Palmerston North, report having a very good entry of both sheep and cattle at their Balls sale on sth inst. There was a large attendance and good competition for sheep and grown cattle, but no demand for weaners.
