MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE. 1 ~* '!■< JUBILEE SHOW THIS TEAS. ) A meeting of the committee of the Wanganui Agricultural Associatios was held yesterday. The president, Mr. J. McL Blair, presided. The past president. Mr. R. Farley welcomed Mr. Blair to the chair, and said he was sure the new president would fill the position with, every credit to the association. The president, in returning thanks, said he appreciate the honour of being elected, and realised the responsibility of keeping the show up to the past standard, and making it a better show. He believed they -were on the eve of big things. He felt that his duty was to see tne organisation was complete, and that the various committees were functioning and doing their work. His wish was to give a lead. He intended to put all his energy into the position- He also inteded to oxpdile the business as much as possible. He hoped by the end of the year to have justified the confidence reposed in him. In conclusion, tho president welcomed the new members of the committee who were returned. OLD MEMBERS RESIGN Messrs J. Hodges and D. Ross wrote forwarding their resignations as members of the Association. Mr. Hodges sent a characteristic letter, wishing the association every succees, and stated that he intended to take on bowls. The president said it was a matter of deep regret that the members had reigned, as both had been for many years valuable members of the association The president moved that a letter, signed by all present, should be sent, to Mr. Hodges and Mr. Ross, asking .them, as they had been staunch supporters of the association in the past, to reconsider their devisit n. Mr. R. Farley said the committee would be very sorry to lose the services of Messrs Hodges and Ross, both of whom had been very valuable members. As a canvasser Mr. Hodges was “out on his own.” They, with the president, were live men known all over the coast, and Mr. Hodges ■was particularly widely known with the dairy people. He still hoped to have, their services for mother year Mr. Ross had been a member of the Association for 30 years. Nobody ■would be more pleased than the speaker to sea him on the committee again.. Mr. Franklin expressed the hops that both members would reconsidei their decision. The motion was carried unanimously, and the letters were signed by ali present. NEW MEMBERS The following new members Were elected: Messrs W. C. Lee, T. Harky,. J. Ooxon, iR. T. Williams, [P. M. Manson, S Cooper. DAY OF MEETING It was decided that the day of meeting be the first Wednesday in each month at 10.30 a.m. A VALUABLE TROPHY. Tho Fresh Food and Ice Company! wrote offering to donate a trophy valued at 25 guineas, to be won three times, not necessarily in succession, by the same owner but not with the same animal, for butter fat test for Grade cows (not eligible for stud book); cows to be on the ground for 24 hours before official milking; the milking to be done under official supervision; samples to be taken and kept under seal for two days, after which same be tested. Suggested points are 75 per cent, for actual butter-fat production and 25 per cent, on type. All milk during period of the Show is to be given to the association, same to be collected twice daily and sent to the Fresh Food and Ice Co., who undertake to purchase same and pay to the Association the current rate receives by their own suppliers, the same to accrue to the Association. No cow winning the test at the show is to bo eligible to compete in similar sections at other shows on this coast, and no animal winning this competition onco shall be eligible for any such competition in future years, but any owner may compete with any number of cows each year. It was decided to accept the offer with thanks, and refer it to the cattle committee. ELECTION OF COMMITTEES The following commmees were elected:— Finance: G. C. Glenn, J. Valentine R. Fartey, T. Spencer CHIEF STEWARDS The following chief stewards were appointed:—Horses, Mr. D. Blyth; cattle. Mr. C. E. Billinghurst; pigs, Mr. Rua Tc Mana; produce, Mr. F. Spencer; home industries. Mr. 3. Grant; needlework. Mrs. Higgle; art and technical, Mr. J. Valentine; dog and sheep section, held over. MISCELLANEOUS It was decided that the president and Mr Broderick represent the association at. the Agicultural Associations’ pending conference at Palmerston North. The question of contributing to the funds of the Royal Agricultural Society was referred to tho finance committee.
