JOY RIDERS DEALT WITH

(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, May 7.

Gordon Johnston, George Ryan, and Charles Johnston, lads who had already pleaded guilty to stealing a ear, related the circumstances under which the offence was committed. They said they had seen a commercial traveller’s car in a street and decided to take it and go for a joy ride. They drove all night, having several gallons of petrol aboard. They carried off the traveller’s samples, which they sold en route. They got as far as Waitara, where they were arrested. A jury convicted two other lads of selling stolen goods. Sentence was deferred.
