COMMENCES AT HAWERA TO-DAY
PROSPECTS FOR EGMONT CLUB’S MEETING
The jumping season proper will be inaugurated by the Egmont Racing Club at Hawera to-day, but this is only a beginning, for the Wanganui meeting follows next week and the big Auckland gathering a fortnight later. There are good fields in each of the eight races set down for to-day, and the prospects are for a successful meeting. A full review of to-day’s racing will be covered in to-morrow’s issue by our sporting contributor, who discusses below the first day’s card.
