LONDON STRIKE SITUATION EMPLOYERS’ OFFISR REFUSED THREATENED STOI'PAGE OF TUBES. The London tramway;! strike ' continues. It promises’, to become worse by the threatened stoppage of the undergrounds. The men have refused tlte employers’ offered increase. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Copyright. Received March 26, 10.50 p.m. LONDON, March 25. The situation regarding the -.tramway strike is becoming worse. The .employers offered five shillings extra per wecK to the uniformed staff, and nothing to the inside grade. They also offered to submit the question of the balance to arbitration. The offer was made in the belief that the Government’s Traffic Bill will afford the employers some relief. Mr Bevin states that in view of the strict mandates given by the men the offer was rejected. The Labour leaders are considering bringing the tubes into the strike unless negotiations for a settlement are successful. It is understood the Government has been privately informed that this is a probability. Mr Bromley states that the locomotive engineers will cease at midnight on Friday unless ordered otherwise, thus crippling the tubes.
