RAETIHI NOTES
(From Our Own Correspondent,) WOOL SALE. Settlers in this district have every reason to be pleased with the prices (hey obtained at the recent wool sale in Wanganui. For 68 bales of mixed wool one settler here received an average of Is 3d per lb. < BOWLS. Two full rinks of Wanganui bowlers visited Raetihi during the weekend. They arrived at Ohakune on Saturday night and were the guests of the Ohakune ’Club next morning. The following are the results of the games:— Wanganui.—Herd, Christianson, Michie, Jack 23, v. Raetihi.—Watson, Bryers, Mackenzie, Green 2'o. Wanganui—Symes, Jones, Harkness Gordon 31, v. Raetihi.—Drury, Millar, Chisholm, Scarfe 16. Other games resulted as follows: For the Drury trophy, Glasgow defeated Gibson 27 —12. Davis, Williams, Gibson, Lynch 32, V. Conry, Wakelin, Johnston, Chittenden 16. Urwia, Glasgow, Watkinson 18, v. Dawson, Wallace, Wise 8. RAETIHI STOCK SALE At the last Raetihi stock sale held on Friday by Messrs Freeman R. Jackson and Co., Ltd., there was a yarding of 5000 sheep and 150 cattle. Sheep of all classes sold well, especially ewes and lambs, and a total clearance of cattle was made in vendors’ favour. Sheep.—Good 4-year ewes 245, 4 and 5-year ewes 19s 3d to £l, f.m. ewes 15s 6d to 18s 7, failing mouth ewes Ils 3d to 12s lOd, medium to good lambs 15s 6d to 17s, smaller sorts 12s 9d, culls 7s 7d to 10s, small 2-tooth ewes 24s 4d, medium 6-tooth ewes 24s 6d, f.m. wethers 28s, sma)l ditto £1 to 23s 4, full-mouth Romney rams £2 2s to £2 ss. Cattle.—2-month mixed cattle £2 15s, 2 J-year ditto (mixed colours), £3 8 S 6d, 4 and 5-year bullacks £4 10s to £5 ss, weaners 15s 6d to £l, aged cows 245, mixed coloured steers
