HIGH COMMISSIONER’S CABLED REPORT. The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated March 22, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:— BUTTER. Market not improving, and demand is not reviving with the lower prices. Official quotations are:— New Zealand Finest.—Salted: March 22, 168 s to 170 s per cwt (Is Od.to Is 6]d per lb.); exceptional, 172 s per Cwt. (Is 6id per lb.); March 15, 170 s to 174 s per cwt. (Is 6d to Is 6Ad per lb.); March 8,180 s to 186 s jer cwt. (Is 7jd to Is 8d per lb.). Unsalted: March 22, 170 s to 174 s per cwt (Is 6Jd to Is per lb.); March 15, 170 s to 174 s per cwt. (Is 6]d to Is 61d per lb.); March 8,180 s to 184 s per cwt. (Is to Is 7Jd per lb.). Other qualities: March 22, 140 s to 166 s per cwt. (Is 3d to Is sfd per lb.). Fair business but market quiet, and tendency to weaken. English quiet but firm. New Zealand.in moderate request. Official quotations are:— English.—Finest farmers’: March 22, 140 s to 146 s per cwt. (Is 3d to Is 3Jd per lb.); March 15, ditto, ditto; March 8,142 s to 146 s p£r cwt. (Is 3Jd to Is 3Jd per lb.). New Zealand.—March 22, coloured 82s to 84s per cwt. (BJd to 9d per lb.), white 82s to 83s per cwt. (BJd per lb.), exceptional 84s per cwt. (9d to 9LI per lb.); March 15, coloured 84s to 88s per cwt. (9d to 94d per lb.); white 84s to 86s per cwt. (9d to 9]d per lb.); March 8, coloured and white 86s to 88s per cwt. to 9sd per lb). Shipments of New Zealand produce arrived this week per s.s. Port Victor, Rotorua, and Mamari. HEMP. Manila market opened steady, but with more inquiries values have improved. “J” grade March-May and April-June shipments sold from £3B to £3B 10s and values. Sales of New Zealand highpoints reported in April-June shipments at £36, but otherwise pieces unchanged. WOOL. Sales continue and offerings readily absorbed by Home and foreign buyers, with slight rise in prices all round. FRUIT. Demand continues and prices are considered good: —Newton Pippin apples, 15s 6d to 19s per case; Stayman’s Winesap, 12s to 155.; Spitzenberg, 14s 6d to 16s 6d. HONEY. Continental.demand is good, and all grades under 50s per cwt. have been cleared. Light grades brought lowest prices. Present quotations are:—New Zealand, 55s to 85s per cwt; Californian 55s to 70s per cwt.; Jamacan, 50s to 65s per cwt.; Cuban, 50s to 60s per cwt.; Hawaiian, 47s 6d to 60s per cwt.
