SHEEPSKINS AND HIDES

Wellington’s fortnightly sale of sheepskins, hides and tallow was held on Friday. There was a large attendance of buyers and considerable competition. Compared with previous sale held on March 7, sheepskins were higher by Id to Id per lb. Ox hides sold on a par with previous sale; cow hides also sold on a par with previous sale; calfskins were higher by about lid per lb. Tallow was in good demand. The range of prices was as follows: — Sheepskins. —Halfbred, 19)d to 21d; fine crossbred, 16Jd to 21d; medium C crossbred, 12£d to 19d; short to half, wools, 9d to 14|d; lambs, IOJd to 18d; dead and damaged crossbred, 9,{d to 18Jd; inferior and badly damaged, 3d to 12Jd; pelts, 9d to 13 id; damp, salted and green, 5s 4d to 13s 6d; pelts, salted, 2s Id to 6s 9d; lambs, salted, 5s 3d to 7s 9d.
