THE RUGBY GAME THE- CANTERBURY QUARREL. (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, March 24. At the general meeting of the Maiist Brothers Old Boys’ Club, the following resolution was unanimously carried: That this meeting expresses its fullest confidence in the executive of the club and its readiness to abide by all the actions and decisions of the executive. This has reference to the Payne trophy match and the suspension of the club by the Canterbury Rugby Union. THE ALL BLACKS’ TOUR (Per Press Association). AUCKLAND, March 24. The Rugby Union endorsed the mo tion moved at the New Zealand Uoion’s annual meeting by its delegate (Mr Frost) that ten shillings per diem be paid to members of the All Black's’ team for England. N.S.W. RUGBY UNION Received March 25, 1.15 a.m. SYDNEY, March 24. At the jubilee annual meeting of the New South Wales Rugby Union the balance-sheet showed that the year closed with a deficit of £939 sterling, making a deficit for the past two years of over £llOO. The president expressed the hope that the visit of the New Zealand team in July would result in wiping out the deficit. It was decided that the question of overseas players’ expenses be discussed with the Home authorities during the New Zealand visit to England. CHINESE TEAM COMING N.Z. COUNCIL ACCEPT VISIT. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, March 24. The New Zealand Association Football Council has definitely accepted a visit from a team of Chinese students during the coming season. Matters in connection with the tour, including fixtures, guarantees, etc., are now being arranged. WANGANUI ASSOCIATION ANNUAL MEETING. The annual general mcetiug of the Wanganui Fooiuall Association was held last night. There was a very enthusiastic. meeting. The election of officers resulted: Patron, Mr Findlay; president, Mr Scott; secretary auu treasurer, Mr Pit kethley; delegate to N.Z.F.A., Mr F. Campbell; delegates to Sports Association, Messrs Findlay, Taylor and Beckett; executive, Messrs Blackburn, Herd anl Maloney. It was decided to open the season with an A and B representative match on April 5. It was also decided to take a collection at a match to be arranged, in aid of the St. John Ambulance association, to whom the thanks of the Association are due for their help during the past season.

After discussion of general matters, the meeting closed witn a hearty vote* of thanks to the retiring president, Mr J. E. Beckett, and the retiring secretary, Mr G. F. Langslow, and to members of the various committees. ANNUAL REPORT. The annual report was as follows: — Rep Matcnes.—Three games were played with outside centres, one with Auckland for th e Brown Shield, which was lost, two with Hawera, resulting in one win and one lossCompetitions.—Eight teams participated in the two grades. Three trophies were played for in the senior grade, two of which (the Shield and the Charity Cup) were won by Shops, the Association Cup being won by St. John's.

Junior Football—The game amongst the juniors showed a great improvement on last year’s displays, some realy good games being witnessed. The Shield was won by Eastown and the medals by Y.M.C.A. Two rep. matches were played, one with Palmerston, and one with Hawera, both of which were wonSchool Football. —It is pleasing to note that the Soccer code is now being played in the schools. A number of teams entered the schools competition, and the Cup was presented for the first time to Victoria Avenue School.

Thanks—The thanks of the Association are due to Mr. Muir, and those members who donated medals to the juniors; also to Mr. Woodham for the Cup presented by him for junior competition; also to the Press for the large amount of space allotted to ‘lie reports of our games. We also wish to thank those enthusiasts who turn out week by week to officiate as referees. It is mainly due to the services of these gentlemen that the game has reached the high prominence it has done in New Zealand, and their valuable assistance :'s fullv appreciated by your committee.

Finance—This year the expenditure has been exceptionally heavy, rents of grounds having been substantially Increased, while Mr. Woodham (who has gone on a visit to the Old Country) has been given a sum sufficient to enable him to purchase two sets of goal nets and two sets of rep. jerseys, on behalf of th e Association.
