KING CAUSES SENSATION. Received March 24, 10.5 p.m. LONDON, March 23. The Daily Express’ Athens correspondent says that King George caused consternation among members of the Cabinet by point-blank refusal to abdicate until a plebiscite indicates the popular will in favour thereof. The Royalists are convinced that an untrammelled vote will give a large majority in favour of the monarchy. Republicans themselves do not expect a majority. Nevertheless the Premier is arranging immediately for the proclamation of the Republic.
