W.C.T.U.
The usual monthly meeting of the Wanganui East W.C.T.U. was held in St. Alban’s Churcli on Thursday afternoon, when Mrs. Duxfield, the president, occupied the chair and opened the meeting in devotional exercises. After the minutes of the last meeting had been read and confirmed, correspondence from the hon. secretary of the Bible-in-Schools Propaganda Committee was received, and the discussion of this was held over till next meeting. The secretary was empowered to expend one pound in prizes for the L.T.L. picnic. Mrs. Frances Brown accepted appointment as delegate to the convention to be hold at New Plymouth on 19th ins|. Mrs. Duxfield gave several reminiscences in the life of the late Hon. Gilbert Carson, and a vote of sympathy with his family was passed by members standing in silence. In celebration of Frances Willard Day a fine paper by Mrs. Mushet, of Onehunga, on “Woman’s Influence,” was read by Mrs ; Andrew. A collection of 6/6 was subscribed to the World’s Missionary Fund. The meeting closed with the Benediction.
