PLUNKET SOCIETY

MONTHLY MEETING. The usual monthly meeting was held on Tuesday at the Stewart-Kar-itane Home. Present: Mesdames Wickham (president), Tosswill, Hope Gibbons, Robertson, Hall, Hine, Bassett Smith, McLeod, Latham, Isett and Boyes. Apologies were received from Mesdames Crawford (secretary), HaleS, Palmer Jones, Crawford (Dr.), Miss Morton Jones and Mr. Spriggens. Nurses reported total visits to offices 1055, new cases (mothers, babies, and others) 87, visits to homes (old and new cases) 5'52. New members: Mesdames Fairclough and Stephenson. A donation from Miss Goyne is gratefully acknowledged.

It was decided to endeavour to inaugurate some scheme to collect subscriptions and to hold a produce and jumble stall the first week in April, donations for which will be thankfully received at the Plunkct rooms. Nurse Wilson reported that ths work at Patea was very-encouraging the committee there being most, enthusiastic. Leave of absence was granted Mrs. Earle until her return to New Zealand. The matron of the Stewart Home reported that three babies were admitted during the month and three babies and one mother were discharged leaving eight babies and one mother in hospital. All cases were progressing favourably. Nurse McDonald of Kakaramea left the hospital during the month having completed her training. Mies Marjorie Hewatt, of Oamaru, entered the hospitqj for training.

The following gifts are gratefully acknowledged: Eggs from Mrs. Hope Gibbons, old linen from Miss Nicholson; and vegetables from the Aramoho Presbyterian Church.
