WAIKATO OVERFLOWS
(Per Press Association). AUCKLAND, July 10. Flood's are bniyg experienced at Rangiriri. whor-a the Waikato river has oversowed. The store and post office (combined) is practically surrounded, and it is possible to get by boat from the building to the river. The road to the station is practically impassable for motors. The water is rising at Mercer. It increased about three and a half inches cn Monday, and that night many square miles were under water to a depth ranging from a few inches to several feet. No stock losses or serious damage are reported, but further rain may make conditions serious. A boat containing ninety sacks of coal was washed away from its moorings at Firth’s pumice mill, Ohinewai, and has not been seen since.
