MR W. L. YOUNG. TRIBUTES FROM REPRESENTA* FIVE GAI HERING. There was a Representative gathering of business men, members of local bodies and sporting organisations at Foster’s Hotel yesterday afternoon to farewell Mr W. L. Young, who, in company with Mrs Young, is about to leave on a trip Home Mr George Spriggens presided, and said the gathering w.u> for the purpose oi showing appreciation of Mr Young as •i business man and a citizen, and lor Lis work in connection with all branches of sport. The Mayor (Mr T B. Mr Young thanked all for their kind remarks and expressed keen appreciation of the gifts. If it camo to a fight for his friends er an effort in the interests of the public ho was already to do his best. He felt that they had exaggerated his capabilities, the fact being that those who had worked with him had l>een as capable as himself, and it was by united effort that anything was achieved. While away he would be on tho alert for anything that was in the interests of Wanganui or the Dominion. Anything that lie saw that would benefit Wanganui he would take a careful note of atid on his return he would place it lief ore the Mayor and the Council Mention had been made of his association with spoil. He had boon associated with it for the love of it. and there he had mot many of his greatest friends. Ho thanked all for their many kindnesses and he hoynd that in some small way he would l»o worthy of the eulogistic references made, and ho hope ! that at all times be would bo worthy of Wanganui.
