INDIVIDUAL COMPETITIONS. OPENING JUNE 4, 1923. The following rules have been submitted to govern the promoting of Individual Shooting Competitions, to be fired on the R.S.A. range, on June 4, 1923, opening at 9 a.m.: PRIZE LIST.—“A” GRADE. Match No. I.—Open to A or B grade members. Five shots with optional sighter, 25 yards. Entrance fee &s 6d per competitor.

Team’s Match.—Open to teams ot any five members from any one club. To be decided on the aggregate scores in matches one and two, in either A. or B. grades. Entrance fee 5s per team. Clubs may enter as many teams as they wish. The entrance money will be divided as follows;

GENERAL RULES. Date. —June 4, 19 23. Time.—9 a.m. punctually. Place.—R.S.A. range. Rules. —The matches will all be fired under Association Rules, except, where otherwise provided in the conditions set out here. Competitors.—Any member of the Wanganui District Miniature Rifle Association, who belongs to a club which has paid its affiliation fee and its capitation fees for all members on the association’s books. Targets.—These will be supplied by the association, and will be numbered and checked in the same manneras in the shield competition. Ammunition and Rifles.—All ammunition and rifles shall be supplied by competitors. Absolutely no ammunition will be handled by the association officials. Umpires. Three umpires appointed by the Umpires' Association will check all scores, and their decisions shall be final. These umpires shall work at a spot away from the range. Range Officer.—A range officer appointed by the Umpires’ Association shall have full control of the. range, and shall see that all rules are strictly adhered to. Markers. Each club secretary shall be asked to nominate one marwer, who understands the work, and who is probably not a competitor in these matches. The Competition Committee shall select four men from those nominated to act as markers on the day. Order of Shooting.—/\t 9 a.m. competitors present shall draw to decide the order in which they shall fire. Competitors arriving late shall shoot, in the order of their arrival. The onus of announcing his or her .arrival shall be upon the competitor concerned.

Entrance Fees, —These are payable before May 26, to club secretaries who, in turn, shall remit them to the association secretary, with a list of names of competitors. Prize Money. The association shall reserve the right to increase or decrease the value of the prize money, according to the number of entries received in each competition. It shall be a stipulation, however, that if the number of entries in each match is 24, the prize as stated will be divided as shown. Teams’ Matches. In teams matches, A. and B. grade members may combine, or teams may be composed of solely “A" or solely “B" grade members. The names of each member of a team must be handed in to the club secretary on, or before May 26, and with the association seoretary on or before May 28. If a team member is a “B” grade competitor, his aggregate scores will be taken from matches 1 and 2, A. grade. If he belongs to B. grade, they will be taken from matches 1 and 2, B. grade. Grading.—A competitor who has made 48 out of a possible 50 three times in any association shooting, shall be deemed to be an “A” grade shot. All other competitors will come under the heading of “B” grade. (Note. —Last year’s shooting will be taken into consideration). No “A” grade competitor will be allowed to compete in a “B” grade match, but- a “B” grade man may, upon payment of his entrance fee, enter an “A” grade match. Club secretaries shall inform the association secretary of the grade of each competitor. Entries Close.—Entries close with the secretary of each club on Saturday, May 26, at 5 p.m., and with the secretary of the association on Moniy, May 28, at 10 p.m. Post entries will be allowed subject to the approval of the Competition Committee.

Alteration of Rules. —The Competition Committee reserve the right to alter these rules in any way.
