LEAGUE OF NATIONS
WASHINGTON, May 16. Mr Hughes, in a speech “that the Harding Administration considers the League of Nations a failure as an agency to enforce peace,” declared that peace cannot be maintained by force and with the present guardians of peace disagreeing as to who will guard the guardians. The speaker attacked the hyphenated Americans, who having a special European interest with America, take the course benefiting them. He denied that the United States had Imperialistic aims in Latin America.
