GERMAN REPARATIONS.

FRENCH PRESS AND THE MORATORIUM. PARIS, July 12. A divergence of views has arisen among members of the Reparations Commission regarding whether the moratorium should be granted to Germany. The proposed international loan is regarded as a means of improving the mark. Le Petit Parisien states that probably the French will favour this suggestion if means are found for preparing a reduction in the French debt to America and Britain. Le Petit Journal says Lord Bradbury’s moratorium proposal tends to the postponement of the execution of the Wiesbaden agreement and deprives France of reparations until 1925. The Belgian and Italian, delegates supported the British suggestion with reservations. The French Government is conscious ofj Britain’s pressure, but the only question for us is what definite proposals have we to expect from Mr. Lloyd George in connection with safeguarding our interests. France will not accept a moratorium unless accompanied by measures showing how we will be paid.

GERMANY HAS THE GOLD. Received July 13, 7.50 p.m. PARIS, July 13. The German Note admits possession o£ sufficient gold to make the payment due on July 15th. It is declared the Government has recently drawn on important resources in order to check depreciations of the currency. The Note requests that the amount be allowed to remain at Germany’s disposal.
