THE FOXTON TRAGEDY.

The lake in which the Foxton drowning tragedy took place is about threequarters ot a mile wide, by one and ahalf miles long. The water at the spot where the decased (Messrs Samuel and Peter Baker) sank is about nine feet deep, aid is covered with reeds and rushes. The late Mr Samuel (“Skip”) Baker was a member of the Pioneer Dramatic Company which recently toured the district, and was very popular, being well-known in musical circles and with his brother ranked high in the estimation <»f his numerous friends. Both lived for many years at Otaki, where their mother still resides.
