THE MEAT POOL LEVY.
EXPORTERS’ ASSOCIATION WITHDRAWS ITS ORDERS. (Per pres, Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, March 28. At a meeting of the Association of Meat and Produce Exporters of New Zealand held here to-uay, it was resolved to send the following letter to the Meat Pool Board:—“Members of the Association of Meat and Produce Exporters of New Zealand are surprised that the Meat Pool Board should take such strong objection to the method they have adopted ot collecting the levy from the producer. No other method ot arranging for the xjroducer to pay this levy appears to be possible in actual practice. Rather, however, than have the attitude of antagonism to the Board attributed to them, and having made as strong a formal protest as possible against being forced to relieve the producer of this levy, they wish to inform the Board that from this date they will withdraw the instruction they have given their buyers concerning the collection of the levy on future purchases, although they are satisfied the cause will in effect result in the whole of the levy for the support of the Board being borne by the exporter.
