FIRE AT ELTHAM.

A fire occurred last night in a twostorey building owned by Mr. G. W. Tayler. and occupied by Mr. G. Dempsey, vulcanising depot. The origin of the fire is unknown. Inflammable materials in the vulcanising depot burnt very rapidly, but smart work by the Fire Brigade prevented the total destruction of the building. Insurances, £4OO on the building in the Royal. Dempsey’s policy of £BOO in the Taranaki Farmers’ Mutual expired on Monday.
