NEW TRIAL REFUSED. (Per Press Association.J AUCKLAND, March 14. At the Supreme Court, Mr. Justice Stringer refused an application by Stuart Cnristie for a new trial on the charge on which he was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment tor unlawfully carnally knowing a girl of 13. The application was made on the ground that the verdict was against the weight of evidence. GISBORNE, March 14. In the Supreme Court, Henry Edward Dennett was sentenced to three years and again declared an habitual criminal for attempted rape.
