ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET. RECORD PRICES FOR FAT /HEEP (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 3. At Addington the annual “Grand National” market was held to-day. There was an outstanding entry of special show beef and mutton from South Canterbury, with several lines from the North Island. The number of exceptionally prime steers exceeded that of previous years. The top beef price for show stock was £7O. others selling at £63, £55, £5O, £45, and under. A record for the yard was established in fat. sheep, four purebred two-tooth Suffolk wethers making £l6 6/ each. Other show wethers sold at £6, £4 11/ and £4 1/6. and hoggets at up to £3 2/. Excluding,.show sheep, the mutton yarding was particularly large, comprising about fifteen races. Beef was sent forward in average numbers.

Store Sheep.—An average yarding and a poor sale, except for good ewes. Fairly good two and fourtooth ewes in lamb realised 20/1 to 25/4; fairly good six and eight-tooth ewes in lamb, 21/4 to 22/6; ordinary four, six and eight-tooth ewes in lamb, 16/7 to 17/8; sound and failing mouthed ewes in lamb 13/ to 17/; two and four-tooth wethers 11/2 to 13/11; four and six-tooth wethers 11/8 to 14/10; ewe hoggets 10/ to 10/8; mixed sex hoggets 9/ to .12/11; wether hoggets 9/1 to 10/8. Fat Sheep.—A record yarding and an easing in prices. Prime wethers realised 19/ to 31/; medium 16/ to 18/9; inferior, 14/ to 15/9; prime ewes 17/ to 22/; medium 14/ to 16/9; inferior 11/ to 13/6; hoggets 11/ to 18/6. Fat Cattle —Prices advanced about 30/ per head on those of the previous market. Extra prime steers realised £26; prime, £l5 to £l9 10/; medium. £ll to £l4 10/; light and inferior £7 to £lO 10/; extra prime heifers £lB 10/; prime, £lO to £l2; medium £7 10/ to £9 10/; light and inferior, £6 10/ to £7 5/; prime cows £lO to £l4 10/; ordinary cows £5 15/ to £9 15/. Vealers.-—A sharp rise was experienced. Runners realised £6 10/; good vealers, £5 to £5 10/; medium vealers £3 to £4; small vealers £1 to £2 2/6.

Store Cattle.* —A line of four-year steers sold tot £9.

Dairy Cattle—A keen demand and an advance In prices. Extra good cows, £lB 10/ to £23 10/; second and third calvbrs £8 to £l5 10/; heifers, £9 to £l4; aged cows £2 to £6. Fat Pigs.—An irregular sale, but special choppers went at £l6; choppers realised £3 10/ to £l6; extra heavy baconers £7; heavy £5 15/ to £6 10/; light £4 15/ to £5 10/ (average price per lb., 8Jd); heavy porkers £4 to £4 10/; light, £3 5/ to £3 15/ (average price per lb., IOJd.) Store Pigs.—An easier demand. Large stores realised £2 10/ to £3; medium, £1 10/ to £2 10/; weaners, 25/; sows in pig £5 5/.

DISPERSAL SALE OF DAIRY HERD AT TAIHAPE.

The N.Z. Farmers’ Co-op. Distrl- 1 buting Co., Ltd., report having held 1 a most successful dispeisal sale of : dairy stock at their laihape saleyards on Wednesday last on account of Messrs T. W. Williams and Sons, 1 Mataroa. The total herd compns- : ing 95 well-bred Holstein and Shorthorn cross cows from their Ngawaka property came forward in excellent condition and reflected great credit on the vendors In bringing their herd up to such a high standard, every cow offered being bred on the property. A very large attendance of dairymen and others interested was present, buyers being represented from Raurimu, Raetihi, Wanganui and Main Trunk line. The majority of the cows were secured bv Raetihi and Kaitieke buyers, atu bidding throughout the whole sale was keen and animated. Best cows, August and September calvers, realised £2O to £25; October calvers £l5 to £l9 10/; late calvers and three-auarter cows £lO to £l4 10/; 4-20-month p.b. Holstein bulls realised 9 (gns. to 21 gns.
