THE BIG CARNIVAL.

GRAND FAREWELL. CONCLUDING NIGHT TO-NIGHT. Yesterday afternoon and again in the evening great crowds rolled along to the Carnival and War Museum. Every nook and corner was crowded to the utmost last night, and the eagerness with which the people entered into the spirit of everything that was taking place, and the large amount of money that was netted is proof positive that the Carnival could have been continued with unabated success for many days more. t The object of the Carnival has, however, we believe been achieved and. when everything has been settled up, there should be a big cheque for each of the bodies principally concerned, the Returned Soldiers’ Association and Queen Alexandra Band. The success of the big venture we should say can be very largely attributed to the splendid efforts and self sacrifice of the gallant band of ladies who have worked night and day in connection with every part of the big undertaking that has been so much enjoyed by everyone.

Those who have not yet visited tne big Carnival are advised to be present this afternoon and evening, and get a taste of Carnival life before the curtain is finally rung down. THE WAR MUSEUM. The great attraction at the Big Carnival has been the War Museum, which has been a complete eyeopener and education, and thousands who have visited it have taken away with them an idea of warfare that could not have been obtained in any other way. To those who have not yet attended the opportunity is still there, for the Great War trophies exhibition will be open this afternoon and for the last time tonight, and it is expected that the museum will be packed every minute during the afternoon and evening. Not one soul should miss this last opportunity of seeing the dreadful devices with which nations war today, and as no such chauce may ever come again our advice is, "be there before the museum closes. See the assemblage of blood-thirsty things that the mind of man has conceived to destroy his fellow man.” CAKES, JAMS. BREAD, PICKLES. AND EVERY OTHER EATABLE WANTED. The ladies of the Returned Soldiers and other stalls appeal tor help in this direction. To-day, the last day of the Carnival, is going to be the biggest day of all, and supplies as above are very urgently needed for every stall of the Big Carnival. Friends and well-wishers are therefore appealed to, and gifts of cakes, bread, jams, pickles and all other eatables will be thankfully received. Donors will kindly communicate with the lady presidents of the stalls, or ’phone the Carnival direct. No. 621. COMPETITIONS. The results of last night’s competitions were as under:—.
