AUCKLAND, Jan. 7. The match between the New South Wales and New Zealand lawn tennis teams was concluded to-day. and resulted in a victory for. the visitors by 12 rubbers to eight. The members of both teams were tired after their hard play in tile New Zealand championship tournament, but some interesting tennis was nevertheless witnessed. Eight singles matches and six doubles matches were played to-day, making the total of 12 singles and 8 doubles. The honours in the singles were equally divided, each team winning six matches, but in the doubles section the visitors lost only two matches. A change was made in the New Zealand team. Dr. Laurenson (Remuera) being ill with influenza. He was replaced by Sims (Hamilton). Results of to-day's play are as follows, the Australians being given first: N. Peach lost to Sims 2—6, 2—6. N. Peach beat Bartlett 6—2, 6—l. Marsli lost, to Bartlett 6—2, s—l, 3—6. Marsh beat Sims 2—6, 6 —l, 6— 4. Gregg beat Allison 2—3, 6—3, 6—o. Watt beat Robson 6—2. 6—3. Henderson lost to Aitken 7—5, 6—3, I—G. Peach lost to Wilding 4—3, 4—3. Doubles.—-Gregg and Henderson beat Bartlett and Sims B—6.8 —6. 6—l. N. and F. Peach beat Wilding and Aitken 6—2, 4—6, 7—5. Gregg and Henderson lost to Bobson and Allison 6—4, 3—6, 4—6. Marsh and Watt beat Robson and Allison 9—7, 6—3. N. and F. Peach beat Robson aud Allison 10—8, B—6. Marsh and Watt lost, to Bartlett and Sims 6 —4, 6—B, 2—6. NEW SOUTH WALES TEAM TO VISIT WANGANUI. Advice has been received from Cuplain Marsh, of the New South Wales tennis team now touring New Zealand, that the team will leave Napier on January 13th and will play a combined Taranaki-Wanganui team on January mil at Wanganui. The match win be a one-day one. The New South Wales team is as follows:—X. Peach. Ur. Gregg. Capt. Marsh, Henderson. F. Peach, and Watts. The Taranaki-Wanganui team will probably be as follows: —Wallace. Uiekie. Nicholson, Webster. Powdrell, and Lampe.
