COTTAGE GARDEN COMPETITION In our advertising columns will be found a- reminder by the secretary of the Wanganui Horticultural Society that the coltage garden competition entries will close on Saturday. 13th Inst. The points are arranged to encourage as far as possible utility as well as beauty in the surroundings of the home. Numerous entries were received last year, and is is hoped that those who have good gardens will help the society by entering freel ythis year. The conditions are that the cottage gardens in the competition must be within a radius of three miles of the Post Office, and no labour must be employed outside of the family, except to dig the ground. The gardens will be judged between November 15 and 25. The Society’s summer show of roses, carnations, and sweet peas will be held at the Drill Hall on Nober 26, and tne arrangements are well in hand.
