U.S. PRESIDENCY.
THE REPUBLICAN TIDAL WAVE. THE WHOLE COUNTRY SWEPT, te— Received Nov. 4. 8 p.m. NEW YORK, Nov. 3. As returns from all over the country continue to come in, Mr Harding’s plurality piles up. The Republicans themselves are surprised at lhe victory, which, like a tidal wave, seems to have swept every Republican into office. Such a traditionally Southern Democratic State as Tennesee seems to have gone Republican, while West Virginia, which the Democrats claimed with apparent good reason, now appears to have also gone Republican. ALL LANDMARKS SWEPT AWAY. Received Nov. 4. 9.25 p.m. NEW YORK, Nov. 3. Other Democratic States which registered large Democratic pluralities in every election since the war, have now recorded unheard of Republican votes. All landmarks seem to have been swept away. Concrete figures available at this writing bear out estimations and indicaU9AS sent earlier. It is expected, however, that the returns will exceed even the most sanguine estimates, and until the complete figures are announced it would not avail to attempt further estimates. COX CONGRATULATES HARDING. Received Nov. 4, 9.30 p.m. NEW YORK. Nov. 3. A Dayton telegram says Mr. Cox sent a message to Mr. Harding stating: In the spirit of an American I accept the decisions of the majority. X tender my congratulations and pledge, as a citizen, my support to the executive authority in whatever emergency may arise.” THE LEAGUE OF NATIONS. MR. HARDING’S PORTION. (Reuter.) Received Nov. 5, 1.10 a.m. NEW YORK, Nov. 3. Mr. Harding's paper, the "Star,” Says: The country has spoken so clearly in solemn referendum regarding the League of Nations that there can be little chance for misconception.
