THE WEATHER.
(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, July .30. Scattered showers were reported during Thursdav night, but cool, fair to cloudy weather has ruled with light variable winds. The barometer has re mained high, but has been somewhat unsteady. Present indications: Variable breezes, but freshening northerlies prevailing shortly. Weather fair, but haze and cloudiness increasing everywhere 'soon, and unsettled conditions following in many parts of the country. Barometer falling, after about 20 hours. HOKITIKA, July 30. I A period of exceptionally fine i weather prevails, with brilliant sun- | shine throughout the whole day, I followed by heavy frosts and low' temperature in the early mornings.
