SURPLUS WOOL PROFITS.
THE BRITISH SEAMEN’S FUND. Mr Edward Newman, M.P., has I received the following letter from the Right Hon. the Prime Minister, dated January 26: Dear Sir, —1 have to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of January 14, and in reply to state that the latest reply to the Government’s inquiries on the above subject indicate that figures relative to the profits to .March 31, 1918, will be available at an early date, it being pointed out that great difficulties have been ex- | perienced in arriving at finality ow- ■ ing to the drastic and compulsory reduction of the staffs of the Imperial Government Departments concerned. I would add my asssurance that every effort will be made to enable the distribution of profits to growers to be carried out with as little delay as possible.— (Signed) W. F. Massey, Prime Minister.
