THE WEATHER.
(Per Press Association.)
WELLINGTON, December 5
The barometer has fallen steadily in the South and westerly to northerly winds have prevailed and have increased in force. Fair weather has ruled, but skies have clouded in western districts. Present indications are for strong westerly winds, backing to southerlies, barometer rising soon in the south. Cloudy, unsettled and squally weather may be expected generally, with rain soon, especially southwards of New Plymouth, and Castlepoint.
James Allen for his work in connection therewith, Mr Craigie reviewed the work of the National Government. He announced himself as an Independent, disapproving of party bickerings and hoping to see a Cabinet formed of the best men of both parties. Many questions were asked, and in answering the candidate was subjected to much interruption by a small section of the meeting. The Mayor two or three times threatened to close the meeting. A vote of thanks and confidence was proposed, and an amendment of no confidence. Amidst uproar, the motions were put and the Mayor declared the former carried.
