VALEDICTORY.

St. Paul's Choir held a very enjoyable social last evening in the Y.M.B.C. Hall. A programme of songs was contributed by the following t members: Misses G. Stewart, DaK* ziell, Dinvnes, Astbury and Warnock, and Mr Johnston. Mr R. P. London caused considerable merriment, with, liis recitations. • Interspersed between the items '. arious parlou'" I games were also indulged in. A^-" the conclusion the party adjourned |to partake of a tasty supper whicH had been prepared h~ the Ladies' Committee, and at this stage the -opportunity was taken of mentioning: the main reason for tht-ir having as- ; sembled together. The chairman i (Mr Jno. Newlands) referred to the | impending departure of Mr and Mrs |E.■ M. Grant for New Plymout, and ["spoke of the association of Mr and | Mrs Grant with the musical activities of St. Paul's. On behalf of the I office bearers of the . church he thanked them both for their valued assistance during a considerable period of time and wished them all happiness and prosperity in their future sphere. The chairman's remarks were, followed by the singing of "For They Are Jolly Good Fellows" and cheers. • Messrs Derbyshire (conductor? and Ritchie (choir secretary) also added their quota o£ appreciation and laid stress ,on the ever willing spirit in, which Mrs Grant had placed her undoubted talent at the disposal of the choir and ..other church organisations whenever asked to do so. It was considered that the loss was not only to St. Paul's congregation, but to Ihe musical community generally.

Mr Grant responded feelingly on behalf of Mrs Grant and himself.

Thereafter, by reque-t, Mrs Grant sang "A Perfect Day," the song which she has made so much "her own—Perfect Day." The singing of "Auld Lang Syne" . brought the function to a close. , , .
