MAN FOUND SHOT DEAD

WHAKATANE, September 2

Nelson Semmens, aged about 30, a milker for Mr Webster at Oponriao, was found on the farm with the upper part of his head blown off. Particulars disclose that the deceased borrowed a gun from the homestead on the farm yesterday, saying he wanted it to shoot a hawk. On the man being missed the police were notified yesterday morning, and Constable Greenslade searched the farm and found the man's dead body on a cattle track leading to a lagoon. The shotgun was poin.ting to his head.
