HIS MAJESTY'S.
"THE DEEMSTER."
Readei's of modern'stories will recall without any difficulty the profound impression made by the stroies of Hall, Came during the past fifteen years, and, 'to those, as well as others, who remember the dramatisation of "The Deemster" under the title of "B e n My Cbree," as played by the late Wilson Barrett, the picturisa'tion of tliis absorbing novel, which is to be screened u'i His Majesty's Theatre on Monday next, should be double' inteiesfting. Reviewing; this picture recently at Wellington, the " Dominion" said : " Tais i;> no weak-kneed, exotic story, but a vigorous pulsating drama, possible, convincing, and full-powered—in ghort, iV is a very perfect realisation of " The Deemster.' on c of ihe best novels Came over wrote. The story is made to livo by the inclusion of a wealth of satisfying detail in scenic effects, quamt; Manx customs and dresses, and a ii't^le bit of real life of that part of the isle nob known to the average tourisrl The acting is generally of such a high order of merit that-''the story leaps 'atone vividly from the screen, and engrosses the a''-ention throughout.^ an:l the fight on the, cliff edge is most realistically depicted." The author's son, Dei went Hall Came. appears as xhe incorrigible wayward, but lovable Dan, and Marian Swayne. a notable English iictress. appears as the long-suffering but steadfast Mona. The loves of these charae'ers, by the rwai T, was tha inspiration for Stephen Adams's famour, song "Mona." 'Special music accompanies the film, and in anticipation of crowded nightly exhibitions, intending patrons are advised to book their seats a<t Upton's Music Warehouse, th«* Avenue. Box plans open at 9 o'clock this morning.
