FEILDING.
The sad death of Lieut. E. Cobbe came as a sad blow to the community and practically from all parts of New Zealand messages of condolence have been forwarded ft the bereaved famij motl°n of sympathy with Mr and Mrs Cobbe was also passed by the Patriotic Society. ' A rather interesting case came berore th c Feilding Patriotic Society when a letter was received from the mother of a boy who hifcl gone to the iront. bhe had received from a solicitor, representing her landlord, a communication demanding that she vacate the house she was living in. The secretary explained that the society was paying the rent, the boy having requested the society, when he was enlstrag, to keep a roof over his mothers head. Some few weeks ago the landlord had demanded an increase^ of rent, which the society refused to give It was decided- to ask the chairman and secretary to interview the landlord
