One -hardij knows whether it is a case of coming events casting their .shadows before, and there is a likelihood of protracted discussion occurring on local affairs or whether members or the Raetihi Town Board are " early birds" and like to get home before midnight- It is a significant fact, howeevr, ihaz at- the meeting of the Town Board it was carried unanimously, on the motion of Cr. Ashwell, that no business be taken after 11 p.m. unless with the unanimous consent ' of ihe Board Tho early (?) closing movement being introduced by local bodies ■fc° cheek tho loquacity of members is delighttul. But why not 10 p.m.? Mr fl. Jenkins, land agent at Raetini, applied to the local Town Board i metal taken from die Makotuku riverbed situate on the Natives' property. l£ was agreed that the .Board was prepared to pay the Natives whatever royalty they were entitled to.
