STOCK SALE REPORTS

Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report:—

At Palmerston North on the 30th ultimo an average yarding of stock was submitted to a good attendance of buyers. There was a fairly good demand, and late rates wore fully maintained. Fat hoggets brought 32s 4d, good mixed hoggets 29s Id, small hoggets 22s 3d, cull ditto 13s 6d, aged ewes in' lamb 205., forward cows £10 3s to £10 15s, fresh conditioned cows £8 12s 6d to £9 ss, store cows £7 3s to £8, small ditto £5 to £6 15s, dairy cows £8 10s to £11, best springing heifers 10 gns to £12 10s, backward and small ditto £6 15s to £8 los 18-month heifers £4 13s €o £5 10s. small yearling iieifers £3 10s to £3 17s 6d, yearling steers (bad colours) £4 12s 6d to £5 6s.

At Feilding on the 31st ultimo both sheep and cattle came forward in fairly large numbers. The sale was well attended, and there was spirited competition for all classes of stock. Sheep were in good demand, and we had a total clearance, prices showing a marked improvement. Store and fat cattle also sold well, prices being higher than at ]ate sales. There was also a good inquiry for dairy stock, which brought full values. Fat wethers brought from 45s to 475, good fat ewes 435, light fat ewes 3os. Southdown ewes and Avetliers 31s, small fat hoggets 27s 6d, ewe hoggets 29s to 325, wether hoggets 28s, medium mixed hoggets 265, small ditto 21s 4d, small woolly hoggets 25s Bd, small b.f. hoggets 22s 6d, f.m. ewes and lambs 28s 6d, empty store ewes 25s lOd, medium weight fat cows £14 2s 6d, light ditto £11 to £12 ss, forward cows £9 6s to £10 Bs, freshconditioned cows 8 gns to £8 17s 6d, store cows £7 5s to £8 Is, light store cows and heifers £5 17s to £6 16s, springing dairy cows £9 10s to 15 gns., dairy cows in milk 10 gns to £13 15s, springing heifers (good) £10 15s to £13 10s, others £7 12s 6d to £9, 3-year steers 14 gns, 2-year steers £11 10s to £11 12s, 20-month steers N£lo ss, 2year Shorthorn heifers £8 ss. 15 to 18----month empty heifers £o 10s'to 6 gns, yearling Shorthorn heifers £5 12s. 6d to £6 2s 6d, yearling heifers £3 3s'6d to £4 17s, good yearling steers £5 12s 6d to £6 15s, ditto (bad colours) £4 6s to £5 10s.
