The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report for the week ended Aug. 31 — Sales have been held at Himatapgi, Rongotefl, Palmerston and Fsilding, and a clearing sale on account of Mr. F. Matthews at Raumai. At Himatangi on Monday we had a fair yarding of sheep and a good yarding of cattle, the latter chiefly springing heifers. All lots sold readily at late rates: Forward ewes 245; fat ewes and wethers 31s; fat wethers £2 &; yearling heifers £4 Is: store cows £5 7s 6d; forward cows £9 to £9 11s; 2-year springing heifers £6 17s '3d to £7 ss; good springing heifers £8 to £11; heifers in milk £5 to £7 2s Cd; guaranteed dairy cows £8 2s 6d to £13 10s. At Eongotea on Wednesday we had a good yarding of both sheep and cattle. The bulk of our entry sold at prices on a par with recent rates :— jfair mixed hoggets 22s lOd; f.m. ewes in lamb 235; discoloured yearling steers £2 14s; yearling bulls £4 to £6; yearling heifers, small, £2 14s; yearling heifers, fair, £3 14s; 18-month heifers £4 Ids to £4 17s 6d; 2-year Shorthorn empty heifers £7 to £7 2s; fair store cows £5 15s to £7 ss; forward cows £S to £9 7s; light fat cows £10 2s to 10 gns. At Palmerston on Thursday we had a good yarding of both sheep and cattle. Sheep sold well, but store cattle tailed to make vendor's reserves on several lines. Other classes sold at late rates: Mixed hoggets 23s 6d; 2-tooth wethers 31s; aged ewes in lamb 15s; yearling steers s.gns; 20-months heifers r.w.bi £7 8s; forward cows £8 5s to £8 17s 6d; fat cows £11 10s to £12 17s 6d; good dairy cows £13; springing heifers (good)' £8 17s 6d to £12 ss. At Feilding on Friday a moderate entry of sheep and cattle met with a ready sale. Store ewes 21s 6d; forward ewes 265; medium hoggets 23s to 25s Id; mixed hoggets 29,s 6d; ewe hoggets 30s; small 2-th ewes in lamb 30s; light store<oows £4 19s 6d; store cows £7 19s 6d; fat cows £16. At Mr. Matthews' sale ot Raumaf on Wednesday, cows sold up to £13 15s; aged gelding £13 10s; and sundries'at usual rates.
