PATRIOTIC DANCE AT WESTMERE.

To further the interests of the War Baby No. 41 Avas the object of the bi<r gathering at Westmere Hall on Thurs" day evening. The function was doubly a success, as, besides giving Baby Blinko a. lift in the voting competition, the supporters themselves enjoyed every moment of the evening. No doubt it was the fact that Madame Briggs and pupils were journeying from town that attracted such numbers of the townsfolk. The musical programme Avas particularly good. Madanie Briggs' items were given in costume. "Caller Herrin' " Avas heartily encored, and Avas folloAved by "Robin Adair." Later in th c evening, Madame sang "Where's Hugo?" Mr Willrie, of "Wee Silver Shilling" fame, supplied the comedy items, and kept his audience merry. yHis songs, recitations and items in costume with Madame Briggs Avere all freely encored, and much appreciated. Other helpers were as follows: Songs, Misses Eileen Clinton, Ivy Schow, Franklin Brown, Miss Raine, Miss G. Lawrence, Miss Jones, Mrs. J. J. O'Reilly, Miss %water, Mr L. Craig, and Mrs., Ivo Sjmes. ' Little Miss Jean Stone avas recalled for her recitation. Miss Bignell acted as accompanist. At the conclusion of the musical programme, supper was handed round, and dancing commenced. Devotees of the "light fantastic" -were favoured .with a good floor and music, the latter being supplied by Miss Flossie Maiison and Mr Butler. Westmere, noted as it is for pleasant gatherings, may count Thursday evening's as one of th e most successful it has. held.
