WAVERLEY NOTES.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) At the usual fortnightly meeting of the Town Board, all members were present.

A motion to support the suggestion by the Mayor of Holutika for a day of\prayer in connection with the war was carried unanimously. It was resolved that the clerk be instructed to show as a separate item the extra cost of wiring over the 60 feet v allowed by the Board when making out accounts for connections.

It was resolved that consumers be notified that the Board will take procedings to recover all accounts two months overdue and that current may be cut off without further notice.

The clerk was instructed to procure drawings and prices of moulds for kerbing and to order 100 yards of metal for streets.

The directors of Moturoa and the newly-formed Ngutuwera Dairy Companies held their monthly meetings at Mr. Palmer's office on Friday.

Mr. R*: Cornwall, one of the oldest men on this coast, has just passed away. His death occurred at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. J. Sinclair.

I learn on good authority that the Farmers' Co-Op. Society has definitely selected a site for saleyards in Waverley and expects to proceed with the erection of up-to-date yards as soon as possible. As 95 per cent of the farmers in the district are shareholders in the concern, there is no doubt of the success of the extension of the business. Mr. Gordon Walker has been appointed agent.

The stray stock nuisance is very noticeable on many of the County roads and many sufferers are hoping that the newly-appointed ranger will put a stop to road-farming or make it an expensive hobby.

The petition for a centrally-situ-ated and up-to-date post office should receive the support of all who have to do business in the old one. As the petition points out: "It is at one end of the town, inconvenient and small, and the residence attached is uninhabitable and beyond repair."
