COAL TRADE-REGULATIONS

(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, August 29. The Minister in charge of Munitions and Supplies, approached by a reporter in regard to *he gazetted amendment of tihe coal trade regulations, stated that the Government-had decided that it was necessary to assume control <jt; the supplies available within the Dominion at an early date. To give effect to this decision he is now empowered under the Coal Trade Regulations, to define coal trade districts and appoint local trade committees to, subject to his. direction, control supplies of coal within such districts. At presont the work of defining the districts and appointing committees is in hand, and will, it is hoped, be sufficiently far advanced for further action to be taken probably next week.
