STOCK SALE REPORTS
Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Palmerston North, report having held their fortnightly sale at Taihape on Wednesday last, when a small entry of sheep and a good yarding of cattle were submitted to a large attendance of buyers. Bidding was spirited and all lines were disposed of under the hammer at prices satisfactory to vendors. Sheep: Mixed hoggets 225; forward wethers 36s 6d.
Cattle: Weaner heifers £3 25., 2-year empty heifers £7 10s to £8 13s; empty cows £8 10s to £9 10s; cows in calf £8 10s to 10 gns; yearling steers £4 5s to £5 15s; 2-year steers £10 2s 6d; 3-year steers £12 to £14 7s.
The dairy herd offered on account of Mr J. McCracken realised from £10 to £17 os., the herd of forty cows averaging £12 9s. There was keen competition for this herd of cows.
On Wednesday we held a most successful sale of dairy stock on account of Mr F. J. Legg. Bamesse. The cat.tle were good, and competition was keen throughout, the herd of 54 cows making an average of £13 8s 9d. Best prices were £18, £19,55., £20, £20 10s. Springing heifers £8 10s to £10; Jersey yearling heifers £4 17s 6d; yearling bull £4 ss; sprmg cart gelding, £18; spring dray, £20; S.F. plough, £10.
