LOWERING THE AGE.
(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Aug 14 . The N.Z. Returned Soldiers' Association forwarded the Minister of Defence a letter protesting against the reduction of th,e age limit under the Conscription Act to 19. The Wellington Typographical Union carried a resolution condemning the proposal to lower the age of recruit*. # At the Karori Borough Council meeting to-night, a motion protesting a°--amst the reduction of the age limit \ as negatived on the casting vote of the Mayor, who explained that he knew several youths under the age who had gone to the . front, and youths of 19 who had enrolled would be nearly 20 by the time their training was finish<ed.
