Returning ever the Thames mouth, the pilot observed antiaircraft fire at Southend. and t!ew there. Climbing, he observed eight Gothao followed by four British planes, steering to the north-east. He climbed 18,000 feet and attacked without .esult. When 30 miles out to seaward he simultaneously observed a hostile machine 4000 feet below the enemy formation. He attacked and drove the enemy into the water.
