RUSSIA AWAKENING.
NATIONAL DANGER REALISED.
Received August 13, 9.30 p.m
LONDON, August 12. The "Daily Chronicle's" Petrograd correspondent says a significant change of attitude is talcing place in the Workmen's and Soldiers' Council. Formerly demanding the Stockholm Conference and peace without annexation or indemnity, and insisting that Russian blood must not be shed in furthering the Western allies' Imperialist aims, the Council is now realising that Russian freedom is endangered and is endeavouring tore-establish the army's fighting power. It is issuing appeals, articles, speeches and resolutions declaring that this is now the supreme question. The Council has summoned a conference of trade unions and military and naval organisations with. a view of mobilising the whole forces of democracy to repel invasion; also to increase recruiting, subscriptions to the Liberty Loan, and the output of munitions and foo supplies
