ORANGE INSTITUTION.
DUNEDIN, April 9. Tli© annual meeting of the Grand Lodge of New Zealand Loyal Orange Institution resumed to-day. Resolutions were passed noting with satisfaction that the Hon. W. F. Masse'y said, durinohis visit Home, that he refused to be drawn into the Home Rule controversy, and emphatically protesting against Sir Joseph Ward, while representing the Dominion, associating himself with the Home Rule controversy. Also assuring the Minister of Education of the Lodge's profound agreement with the decision of Cabinet to maintain free undenominational education in New Zealand, and expressing sympathy with the Minister upon attacks made on him. Another drawing the attention of the ActingPrime Minister to the intensely objectionable reference to 6hrines and crucifixes in letters of sympathy whicli are being sent out by the High Commissioner. One drawing the attention of the Acting-Prime Minister to the fact that a custom is being established by Roman Catholic authorities of celebrating Mass in public places of the Dominion, and asking the Government to take steps to prevent what is little short of an outrage upon Protestant sentiment. Finally a resolution protesting against the presence at the Vatican of representatives of the Court of St. James.
