WANGANUI VENETIAN ORCHESTRA.

CONCERT TO-NIGHT,

As already .announced in these columns,' the Wanganui Venetian Orchestra will give their first concert in the Opera House to-night. There is little doubt that great interest will be taken in this concert. The programme has been compiled with great care and is a varied and lengthy one—it should certainly serve to demonstrate the gifts of our Wanganui musicians. In addition to several items by the orchestra, there will be a violin duet, string trios, quartettes, and Fletcher's "Folk Tune" and "Fiddle Dance" will be played by a suite of stringed instruments. Mrs. Hughes Johnston will play Oberthier's "Lovely" on the harp, one of the most,beaaitiful of stringed instruments. Mr. L. Yon Haast's flute solo "Dance of the Butterflies". (Lax), and a humorous bassoon solo by Mr. Turvey are items well Avorth hearing. Much interest will be taken in Brahms Hungarian Dance (No. 5) and incidental music to "The Merchant of Venice" (Frederick Rosse) Both items will be rendered by the Orchestra. Mr. Addison L. Pinard an ever-welcome artist, will sing "The Toreador" from Carmen (Bizet) and The Marseillaise" (in French) the latter item being accompanied' by the" full orchestra.
