'Mrs. J. Barron, of 62, Keith Street, yesterday received advice that her son, Private ft. C. Barron, who left with the lltli Reinforcements, had been wounded in action in France.

He was a.n enthusiast in athletic sports, being a prominent member of the Kaierau F.C, a representative footballer and a regatta oarsman of the Wanganui "R.C. Private W. G. Coombes, reported wounded, is the eldest son of Mr. J. W. Coombes, Wilson St., late of Tayforth. He was a member of the Union Boat-Club, and was also well known m football circles. He left with the 12th Beinf or cements. His two brothers left with the 9th Reinforcements, and are also in th,e firing line.
