Herr Haase, a Seoialist, in. the Reichstag, declared that the people were tumbling over a precio.cei Millions were looking to the Socialists for" a gleam of peace. Our sufferings were growing to inhuman proportions, and nowhere is there hope. We must save the people from the worst. Our drear., of world dominion will never be realised.
Herr Schiedam, a Socialist, declared that the nation wanted peace, and v/as tired of being lured to destruction by new and brilliant promise?., The Germans were willing to evacuate France and Belgium, and Peace must be based on th« principle of the French, Belgians and Germans retaining their respective ter-
ritories.
