WAR REGULATIONS.
THE NEW ACT IN FORCE,
The War Regulations Act, whiclfc passed both Houses of Parliament during the session just ended, is now in force. Its chief aim is to give the Governor-in-Council the power to make further regulations in connection with, the exigencies of .the present war.. These include tho control of licensed' houses, the regulation of the sa'e ofc intoxicating liquor to w6uien, " the suppression or regulation of the practice of treating," and the supp #ea3ion- d prostitution, or for the prevention vi venereal disease. ' .......
The Act will not attain tho fnll me.i, sure of efFect in regard to anti-treat-ing and other matters, until tlu* regulations are gazetted. When they are gazetted, the pub]i<j w;IJ lie ni>le to fully gauge the extent of the powers i which Tho Act ;ias .given the Gefreinment of the country under war conditions. These regulations are now- being prepared by the Law Drafting Department, and will be gazetted at the earliest opportunity.
