(By Telegraph.) (Special to "Chronicle.") TE KUITI, May 5

The Prime Minister, who paid a fiVing visit to-day to Otorohanga for the purpose of opening the new Municipal Hall there, received n most enthusiastic reception. The settlers'of the townships and of the surrounding districts from far and near gathered! in great numbers and several of the oldest inhabitants of the township stated that they had never before seen such a large' gathering there. Festoons of flag.s were stretched across the streets, and the stirring nature of the reception was made the more interesting by the presence of a group of Maoris suitably garbed, who greeted Mr Ma-ssey with an old-time Maori welcome in front of the railway station. On rising to speaK, at the public reception outside the new hall, and also at the subsequent luncheons, the Prime Minister was greeted with loud and pronounced applause and cheering, there being not a single dissentient voice. A large number of people gathered at the railway station in the afternoon to give the Premier a suitable send-off.
