Over a thousand flax mill hands of the Manawatu held their second annual picnic at Longburn on Saturday. Prominent Labour leaders were present and delivered addresses. A Labour demonstration was also given in Palmerston North on Saturday evening, when a large crowd listened to the addresses.

A FLIGHT POSTPONED
(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, March 22
Aviator Scotland was to have made an ascent at the Athletic Park yesterday, and about 2000 people attended, but the wind waa too boisterous to permit of an attempt to fly. The wind reached a velocity of 30 miles an hour at times.
